Facial vs Medifacial : Are They The Same?

facial vs medifacial

Differences between a Facial and Medifacial

A standard conventional facial only provides pampering and is usually not treating the skin. They also generally include harsh exfoliation ( usage of scrubs), which strips the skins barrier.

Instead of rough exfoliation or a chemical peel, medi-facials use natural prescription strength ingredients to speed up cellular turnover, remove dead skin cells and repair the skin leaving it refreshed and healthy looking, without compromising and damaging its protective barrier.

Medifacials are evidence based skin treatments which uses medically proven ingredients to improve different skin concerns. The medical grade ingredients reach the dermis to combat all skin issues, such as acne, scarring, pigment spots, sun damage, dehydration, rosacea, broken capillaries, etc. Medi-facials also improve the tone, texture, and collagen and elastin production in the skin, thus slowing down ageing.

This means a standard facial gives only temporary results that generally only last a few days. The products only sit on the skins surface, and do not penetrate to the dermis, where our skin does the most healing and repairing.

Medifacial at Kaiteki

At Kaiteki Skin Aesthetic Laser, a full skin consultation and assessment with a doctor and a team of highly professional skin therapists. This is to determine your skin type and to understand your particular skin concern. Then specific ingredients will be selected for your medifacial.

For dry, dull skin – Mild Lactic Acid and Glycolic Acid Solution will be chosen for exfoliation and brightening, Growth Factors Solution Infusion for hydration.

For oily, acne proned skin – Salicylic Acid is picked to reduce sebum . production and reduce congestion.

For combination skin – Different solution ingredients can be used on different areas for instance, Salicylic Acid on oily T zones and Growth Factors Solution for dry skin over the cheeks.

For aging skin with dark spots/pigmentation – A higher concentration of Glycolic Acid or Peel may be advised for more optimal results. In some cases, combination with laser can complement the results of a medifacial to reduce pigmentation or spots more effectively.

Medi-facials are personalised to each skin type, as all our skins are unique and react in different ways. At Kaiteki, penetration of the ingredients is also enhanced by massage throughout the Medi-Facial. In addition to massaging the face, massage of the neck and shoulders means our Medi-facial is as pampering as a standard facial.
