Can Laser Fully Remove a Tattoo?
While complete removal may not always be achievable, tattoo removal laser can significantly lighten tattoos for a more desired outcome.
Usually tattoo removal laser require a few sessions ( expect up to 10 sessions for dark coloured tattoos). For lighter tattoo, you can expect about 4-6 sessions.
Usually, tattoo removal laser should be scheduled 1 to 2 months apart from another so you get the most out of each treatment. It will also allow your body to break down the ink particles and gives your body the opportunity to heal completely before the next session.
How tattoo removal laser works?
Tattoos don’t just disappear after a once-over with the laser. (I wish!)
In my experience, black tattoos are easy to get rid off. However, some tattoo artists mix black with a little green and as time passes, the greenish hue stays on and those are more difficult to remove. Luckily, we are using PicoSure which is effective for all kinds of coloured tattoos.
Generally, red coloured tattoos will require 532nm wavelength whilst black tattoo responds well with 755nm or 1064nm wavelength.
After the laser, the body will then break down the ink pigments and the results will be more apparent after 3 to 4 weeks. So, don’t be fooled by the whitish appearance on videos, thinking that the tattoo has been removed !
